What Things Could Be

Rob Dixon

Rob Dixon brought his tenor saxophone form Atlanta, GA to Indianapolis by way of Hampton University and the Indiana University school of music.  Rob spent 6 good years living, working, and growing musically in New York City.  There he worked with "Slide" Hampton, Rufus Reid, Tony Bennett, The Ellington Band, and The Count Basie Orchestra.  As a straight-ahead sax man his powerful style has been likened to jazz greats John Coltrane and Joe Henderson.

In great demand as a side player, he has kept quite busy in the Indianapolis jazz scene.

Not only is Dixon a exceptional saxophonist, Rob Dixon is a masterful composer/ arranger.  His abilities to create are evident on his debut CD "What Things Could Be".

"What Things Could Be" gives insight to Dixon's philosophy "I'm first and foremost a jazz artist", says Dixon. Gospel, hip-hop, R&B, and soul are the underlying flavors, this is a jazz CD. Just as all great musicians, composers, arrangers do  Rob draws from different genres.
